The Magpie Turns was recorded in the spring months of 2016. Symbolic of illusion and perception.

After a turbulent close to 2015, The Magpie Turns started life through simple mindfulness drawing techniques. Webb uses Royal Academy, French Horn graduate Jon Farey to breathe life into the songs and other musicians such as Liz Pearson to add texture. The groundwork provided by swirling keys, piano and picked electric guitar. Real sound, archive footage has been used to create documentation.

Track Name: The Magpie Turns
Green, purple and green
The Magpie turns as I freeze
Why didn't you wrap up?
I had us all in floods

All these times were weatherproof
Heavy times so weatherproof...
For me, not you.

From creosote, to when we were shaken
Dead fire coal as the spring unfolds,
a familiar, beautiful wasted space

Why didn't this stack up?
All these times were weather proof
And I dive in, for me, not you.

Wonderland, we're holding hands,
somewhere between a dead charade and a glue eyed dance.

But then my face was painted in sorrow
In green, purple and green.

I'm lost in this stream when I dive.
Track Name: Over the moon
The carriage.
The best.
I had to fend off the rest.
A scorn.
My breath wasted on his opportune
Just too long for the stop but you looked over the moon.

You looked over the moon.
You managed to look over the moon
Track Name: Human Robots
I'd stare and colour in the space, for I'm half
asleep robot screwing up your face.

That's why you took the jump leads to my chest
There was no need to marry your feet and my thinking cap.

I was thinking of familiar things, like my childhood, inventing my future. Putting what was left off this tiny town right, seeing the downs in a filter that I had never seen before.

And us human robots, we get hurt, when we let down our guard.
When there's no other words and nothing to sell, we all let down our guard.

Silver sweep the green leaves, blanket all the blues, take the brick weight off Birthday balloons.
Oh the clouds not filling up with Birthday balloons.
Track Name: The Cinema (Possessed You)
You cannot find the heap from where I would always lift you.
You cannot find it. The cinema possessed you.

I cannot prize the devil. I cannot prize the daring devil.
I cannot prize it. The cinema possessed you.

Put one foot on the rope son, just one foot and I'll be gone.

You cannot be the artist. Not break your mothers heart. You cannot be the artist. The cinema possessed you.

From Birth I was always a parachute sun. From Birth I was always. Yet the cinema possessed you.

Put one foot on the rope and I'll be gone.

This all came to me when I saw you climb the crane for the first time.
The pain was like a knife in my chest.
Track Name: People Who Die In Films Are Gone Forever Gone
So sudden and simple. There's no where to mourn. People who die in films are gone forever gone.

Usually in a horrific display. No funeral, no heartfelt dismay. For people who die in films are gone forever gone.
Track Name: The Goffs
Stacking shelves, repeat, then turn
Do you remember the wine? In The Goffs one time?
You were letting me drown, letting me drown.
Like a faithful dog, my response

Starlings used to follow me home,
until I remembered they were there.

Frantic cars, repeat, then turn.
Do you remember sleepless nights, playing with the lights, until the carpet was ours?

Having your town, as a news item
Do you remember my clean face, the boy put in maths, sums already crashed, spirits placed

Starlings used to follow me home until I remembered, they were.

Suspended clouds, neon lights, do you remember me dying on a bus? Never again my face in the mirror

Starlings used to follow me home until I remembered they were there.

They were there, in The Goffs...
